Modernizing Urban Parking with a Custom Billing & Control System – mPARKING

Overview

A local government authority required a smart, user-friendly solution to modernize and streamline its parking billing and control operations. In response, we developed mPARKING—a comprehensive information system consisting of a web-based management interface and an Android mobile application. The system enables real-time parking monitoring and enforcement via SMS-based payments and OCR-powered license plate checks, significantly improving efficiency, transparency, and user experience.

Working Process

Discovery & Planning:

We worked closely with city administrators and parking enforcement teams to define functional needs, enforcement workflows, and integration requirements for the SMS service.

System Design:

The system was designed as a dual-platform solution:
A web application for monitoring, billing, and parking zone management
An Android application for mobile verification and field operations

Development & Integration:

We developed a backend platform that integrates with the mobile operator’s SMS billing system and built a frontend that allows operators to configure zones, view real-time payment status, and manage reports. The Android app features an OCR module to scan license plates for quick, contactless validation.

Testing & Field Trials:

The system was tested extensively under real-world conditions to ensure OCR accuracy, SMS reliability, and ease of use by field operators.
